Travel Status

Henry County utilizes the Indiana Department of Homeland Security's Travel Status Program to inform its residents of local travel conditions. This allows the public, businesses, industry and other government leaders to see the current travel status in Henry County. Users of the system also have the option to print a Travel Advisory History (PDF) document showing the history of changes that have occurred. This can be very helpful when someone is looking for the dates and times when a specific level was initiated or cancelled.

Travel Status Mobile App

The State of Indiana has created a free mobile app to provide Hoosiers with county travel status updates and alerts directly to their mobile devices. In addition to weather, the app will also include notifications with regard to flooding, hazardous materials spills and other events that could affect travel.

Download the App

The Indiana Office of Technology and IDHS collaborated on the project. The Indiana Travel Advisory app is available to download for iPhone in the App Store, and Android in the Google Play Store.

Red Warning

The public is not mandated to stay off the roads, the word may makes this, like in other levels optional.

  • Pl refrain from all travel. If your employer is mandating that you go to work, you may. Unless there has been additional terminology added to a local emergency declaration.
  • Comply with necessary emergency measures, if emergency management (law enforcement, fire, EMS, Emergency Management) or other identified emergency services personnel are directing you to stay out of or evacuate a given area please do. They are working for your safety.
  • Cooperate with public officials and disaster services forces in executing emergency operations plans.
  • Obey and comply with the lawful directions of properly identified officers.

Orange Watch

An orange watch means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During an orange watch local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.

As with a red warning, the basic terminology does not mandate that persons stay off the roadways. But at this level it is highly recommended that you stay off the roads except for essential travel, such as to and from work if mandated by your employer or in emergency situations.

An example of a situation that might mandate that persons stay off the roads would be pandemic, radiological, or hazardous materials release.

Yellow Advisory

The yellow advisory level is most likely used when its slick and hazardous, a storm has restricted access due to trees or lines down or even flooding has closed roads in the County.

The lowest level of local travel advisory, means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation, and individuals should use caution or avoid those areas.
